Jal Mahal: Reviews & Ratings

My wife and I went to Jal Mahal yesterday for lunch, the food was fantastic. In particular the aloo samosas and the chicken pakoras. The samosas had a bit of a kick, and were seasoned perfectly. The chicken in the pakoras was juicy, not overcooked and the batter was crispy. I was pleasantly impressed with both appetizers. I had the lamb biryani, a big portion with lots of lamb. My wife had the Murgh shahi korma. Both mains were extremely tasty. I cannot remember our server's name but she was very attentive and polite, a credit to restaurant. We normally use their sister restaurant, The Chef Of India and we will be coming back for more at Jal Mahal. A really nice experience.

New Indian restaurant in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Owned by the same Chef Pankaj/team behind “Chef of India”. Limited menu options but everything tastes great. The decor is a bit weird (run down) as it appears an old motel/restaurant but the facilities are clean and the staff is courteous. There’s ample parking for guests and it is away from the hustle/bustle of downtown Niagara Falls area for a relaxing lunch/dinner. Highly recommend that you try this place once. The prices are up-to-mark for a touristy place and the taste will make up for it!

The butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, samosas, Biryani, and naan were amazing. Best Indian food we've had in Niagara combined with fair prices and excellent service. Would definitely recommend you try it for dine in or takeout!

Was in town for the day to visit the Falls, looking for an Indian Restaurant at the end of our visit to satisfy our hunger. We found Jal Mahal, it has plenty of free parking and about 4km from the falls a short drive. The decor is basic and clean. But should not detour you from experiencing their fine Indian cuisine, we had a butter chicken and chicken biryani with the butter garlic nam bread, as well as a mango desert which had the consistency of ice cream, all was excellent and would recommend Jal Mahal to anyone that has a taste for fine Indian food! Really enjoyed it thanks!

Update, I have been back several times now and it has always been Great flavor and great food, Friendly staff. Definitely going back. Tried the Reshmi Kabob and it was so full of flavor and delicious, great add on to any meal. Turn up volume on the video, just that sound alone is devine. Enjoy if you go.

Probably more a 3.75 if I’m accurate. I had butter chicken platter - was great that it included naan and rice but there was just a boatload more sauce than chicken in it. Usually that’s not bad, but the sauce was kinda grainy. Just not my favorite. But the garlic / butter naan was great and the plating was a treat.

Jal Mahal, nestled just outside the bustling heart of Niagara Falls at 6535 Thorold Stone Rd, offers a refreshing and authentic Indian dining experience. Owned by the same talented team behind “Chef of India,” this restaurant brings a focused menu that prioritizes quality over quantity, delivering bold flavors and well-crafted dishes in every bite.

From the first impression, the charm of Jal Mahal lies in its unpretentious atmosphere and attentive service. While the décor carries a hint of its past as an older motel, the cleanliness and warmth of the staff create a welcoming setting that invites guests to relax and savor their meals. Ample parking makes the visit hassle-free, a small but important detail for those exploring the area.

The true highlight, however, is the food. The aloo samosas stand out with their perfect seasoning and a subtle spicy kick that awakens the palate. The chicken pakoras impress with juicy, tender meat encased in a crisp, golden batter—a testament to skilled cooking and freshness. For mains, the lamb biryani serves generous portions of tender meat layered with fragrant spices, delivering fullness in flavor and texture. The Murgh Shahi Korma offers a creamy, rich experience that comforts with every spoonful.

Other dishes like butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, and freshly baked naan make a strong case for Jal Mahal as one of the best Indian spots in Niagara Falls. Diners consistently praise the freshness of ingredients, balanced spices, and the fair pricing that complements the quality served. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, Jal Mahal impresses not just with taste but with a genuine, heartfelt approach to Indian cuisine.

For those looking to celebrate special occasions, the availability of a party hall adds another dimension to this charming restaurant. Overall, Jal Mahal stands out as a must-visit for anyone yearning for authentic Indian flavors combined with attentive service and a peaceful dining environment away from the downtown rush.
